Won’t You Be My Solar Neighbor?

Updated: Aug 20, 2020

Community Solar Co-ops help people go solar.

Have you ever wanted to go solar but hesitated because it seemed too expensive? You don’t have to go solar alone. Residents and businesses in your area are forming partnerships to go solar together. These partnerships are helping people save money and protect the planet.

These partnerships, called community solar co-ops, are springing up around the country. Solar United Neighbors, a national nonprofit, is helping launch these groups around the country to connect residents and businesses to affordable solar opportunities. The nonprofit guides co-op members through the process of choosing solar, using their collective buying power to get better installation bids and making decisions with confidence.

Promote PT is working with our partners at Voice of Westmoreland and the Allegheny Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sierra Club Ready for 100 to spread the word about this series of informational sessions in Westmoreland County to let residents and businesses know how they can be a part of a solar co-op. These sessions will take place at different community centers in the area.
